POSITIVE THINKING DOES NOT CURE PTSD

Positive Thinking Doctor

PTSD is a complicated problem, and there are no easy answers.

Positive thinking is not the cure for PTSD or for Depression. Nevertheless, positve thinking is better than negative thinking.

Positive thinking is the natural software for the mind. Our minds were designed to function best and most efficiently when a positive operating system is in control.

Although positive thinking is not the cure for PTSD, when a person's thoughts become more positive, it's a sign that an individual may be improving. Positive thinking is not the cure, but it is one of many signs of improvement.

Telling a person with PTSD to think positive will not work. Telling them to think positive may actually make them worse.

Not all PTSD is created equal, and each individual has different resources available to deal with it. People with milder forms of PTSD may responded differently to treatment than people with more severe forms. One treatment does not fit all.

No matter what treatment you use, it really does matter where you focus your mind. Mental focus does make a difference. The war for a positive mind is fought on the battlefield of focus for every person on planet earth, whether or not they have PTSD. Focus gives us powerful leverage over our mind, and we need to use that leverage in a positive manner.

We can point a person in the right direction, but we can't always give him the power to make the trip. Power comes from many different sources. Faith in God, family, friends, and a person's internal resources may provide the power for the trip. Therapists and counselors can be a big help. Other people who have had PTSD can be a positive resource as well.

PTSD is embedded at many different levels in an individual's physiology and psychology. If a person is going to recover from PTSD and depression, they need a point of leverage to reestablish command and control over their unruly mind. Focus provides that leverage. When you control your mental focus, you gain significant leverage over you mind.

The Law of Positive Change states, "When you change the things you look at, the way you look at things changes. When you change the things you talk about, the way you talk about things changes. When you change the things you think about, the way you think about things changes."

It really does matter what you look at, what you talk about, and what you think about.

All of these things shift your mental focus and give you tremendous leverage over your mind.

What you talk about, think about, and look at expands into your mind and life.

Mental focus is powerful beyond measure, and can give you the leverage you need to get your life back and to start feeling good once again.

Positive thinking is not the cure for PTSD, but controlling your mental focus is a giant step in the right direction. A positive mental focus is better than a negative one. And over time, a persistently positive focus goes a long way toward creating a consistently positive mind.

The war for a positive mind is fought on the battlefield of focus. You have the power to control the focus of your mind. You have the leverage you need to move in a positive direction. It won't be easy, and it will require time, but it is possible.

STRONGHOLDS OF THE MIND - I WOULD RATHER SWITCH THAN FIGHT

PTSD is deeply embedded in your heart and mind. It is a classic mental stronghold that occupies the high ground in your mind, and rooting it out is difficult, but not impossible.

Every time you go into mental rewind, PTSD tells you all the reasons why it's impossible to feel healthy and happy once again. PTSD shouts a litany of negative emotions, anxiety, limitations, fear, guilt, and depression.

If you want to regain the high ground in your mind, you must change your mental focus. You cannot do a frontal assault on your negative and depressing thoughts. Attacking them directly only increases their power.

Negative thoughts are parasites. They live off the energy you give them when you focus on them. Focusing on them is like giving them a transfusion with your own blood. You become psychologically anemic as they suck the blood from your mental veins. They become stronger as you become weaker. You destroy yourself when you do this.

The problem is that all your fighting instincts tell you to do just the opposite. Fight, struggle, you can win this battle. That’s what most people do. They fight to the point of exhaustion, and then they wonder why they lost the battle after such a valiant fight. Every story you read about achievement and success tells you if you fight the good fight, eventually you win.

The story is true. If you fight the good fight, you will win, unless you are fighting against negative strongholds in your mind. There is a time to fight, and a time to let go.

When it comes to negative thoughts, it’s time to let go. There is no other way you will ever get negativity out of your mind. Fighting with it will not make it go away; it will only make it stronger.

A cigarette commercial once had a jingle that said, "I would rather fight than switch."

The battle against PTSD has a different slogan that says, "I would rather switch than fight." That's exactly what you have to do to win the battle of the mind. You don't win the battle by making a frontal assault on the negative strongholds of your mind. Instead, you switch your mental focus in a different direction - a healthy, positive direction.

What you think about expands. When you focus on all the psychological carnage created by PTSD, your destructive focus increases its power.

If you try to drive PTSD from the high ground of your mind by directly engaging the negative and destructive thoughts and emotions, you will be fighting an uphill battle and the odds will be against you.

If you switch your mental focus in a different direction, PTSD gradually loses its power. It no longer sucks the energy from your mind, because you aren't arguing with it any longer. When you switch your mental focus, you gain the high ground in the battle of the mind.

Remember, It's better to switch than it is to fight.

If you really want to be positive, nobody can stop you.

ERADICATE DEPRESSION FROM YOUR LIFE

Eradicate Depression #1

Emotions no more reflect the facts of life than shadows from the clouds control the sun that create them. The shadow of emotion must not control your life.

Eradicate Depression #2

Ignore the feelings of life and focus on the facts.

Eradicate Depression #3

What you focus on expands into your mind. Depression's negative focus causes negativity to expand into your life.

Eradicate Depression #4

What you put into your mind affects the chemistry of your brain. When you put in positive things, you push the chemistry in a positive direction.

Eradicate Depression #5

When your heart is full of emotions consistent with God's love, your emotions are healthy, and your heart is exactly the way God means for it to be.

Eradicate Depression #6

Positive thinking is the right type of thinking. It's the natural software for your mind and is the most efficent way to run your brain. It's the way God designed your mind to work.

Eradicate Depression #7

Who you are now doesn't matter nearly so much as who you will become when the power of God's love rolls through your heart and mind and makes you into a new person with a new life.

Eradicate Depression #8

The love you send to others comes multiplied back to you. The more you send to others, the better your life becomes.

Eradicate Depression #9

The moment you assume command and control your mental focus, the battle against depression shifts in your favor.

Eradicate Depression #10

What you put into your mind is important because it changes who you are. What others put in is equally important because it changes who you are as well.

Eradicate Depression #11

You can't just throw out negative thoughts. They come right back like negative boomerangs. The only way to keep out negative thoughts is to put in something positive to take their place.

Fight Depression And Anxiety

The fog of depression and anxiety is like the fog of war. It's hard to see where you are going, and even if you could see, you might not know which way to head to escape. In those hard times, it's all to easy to get disoriented and to strap yourself into the electric chair of depression.

How To Conquer Depression

The journey out of the Land of Depression is like an uphill climb that never seems to end. You just keep moving forward and climbing upward hoping that soon you will come out at the top. Driving out of the Land of Depression can be like going up the Moqi Dugway. You have to remember that if you keep on keeping on and make good choices, you will eventually make it to the top. Just because it is a long upward climb does not mean it is impossible. You have to keep moving forward and not surrender to fear and despair, and eventually you will conquer your depression.

How To Defeat Depression

What you put into your mind is critical. You cannot fill your mind with toxic waste and expect that you will somehow magically become a positive person. Putting water in a gas tank will not turn the water into gasoline. Putting toxic waste into your mind will not turn the toxic waste into positive thoughts. If you put garbage in, you get garbage out. If you put good stuff in, you get good stuff out.

How To Eliminate Depression

Do you choose depression or does depression choose you? I have never met a person who chose to be depressed. The general feeling out there is that depression just happens. I strongly disagree with that statement. Although people don't consciously choose to become depressed, they do make choices that pave the royal road to depression. The choices you make about what you put into your mind, the chemicals you use, the things you watch in the media, the conversations you have, and what you say to yourself all have a massive impact on whether you have a positive or negative mind.

Zero Depression

There’s a lot of push and shove going on in your mind, and you’re the one who’s getting pushed around. Too often, your inner voice beats you up and forces you into a corner. And after it knocks you down, it doesn’t stop the assault. It just keeps pummeling you with more negative and depressing thoughts. If you are going to break the back of negative thinking, you must do some pushing and shoving of your own. You will have to pump some mental iron and deliver a knock out punch to all the negative thoughts that have been giving you such a hard time. You are going to have to strong arm your mind.

Quitting Depression

I am a never quit sort of a person. Never quit is my mantra and my modus operandi. But when it comes to depression, you need to be an excellent quitter. You need to become an expert at how to send depression packing. If I was passing out blue ribbons to people who have won the battle for a positive mind and who no longer suffer with depression, the ribbon would say, "I am a quitter". This badge of honor would be reserved for people who stop doing depression. Anyone quitting depression has accomplished something major, and they deserve our respect, recognition, and admiration.

Eight Steps To Eradicate Depression

Either you control your mind, or it controls you. If your mind controls you, if it continually bombards you with chaotic racing thoughts that you don't want to think, if negative and twisted thoughts dominate your mind, then it's time to reestablish command and control. You need to take command of your mind and control the thoughts you find there. If you are trapped in deep depression you may need medication to reestablish command and control so that other types of therapy are effective. If you have a milder mood disorder, you may be able to reestablish command and control without using medication.

Negative Warning

Either you control your mind, or it controls you. If your mind controls you, if it continually bombards you with chaotic racing thoughts that you don't want to think, if negative and twisted thoughts dominate your mind, then it's time to reestablish command and control. You need to take command of your mind and control the thoughts you find there. If you are trapped in deep depression you may need medication to reestablish command and control so that other types of therapy are effective. If you have a milder mood disorder, you may be able to reestablish command and control without using medication.

Depression Self-Talk

You don't have to let the voice of depression control your inner dialogue. You can use positive self-talk to change the conversation. What you say to yourself determines the focus of your mind and helps you reestablish command and control over your thoughts. If you want to have a mind free from depression, nobody can stop you.

University Of Depression

The battle against depression is fought on the battlefield of focus. As long as you let depression do all the talking and control your mental focus, the battle is lost. It's impossible to win the battle until you go on the offensive and control the focus of your mind. If you are going to win the battle, you are going to have to discover the power of positive focus and use every tool at your disposal to develop and maintain a positive mental focus.
